S. Korean president's approval rating falls to 21 pct: poll

SEOUL, May 31 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating fell 3 percentage points from a week earlier to 21 percent this week, a weekly poll showed Friday.

It marked the lowest since the Yoon administration was inaugurated in May 2022.

The negative assessment on Yoon's conduct of state affairs advanced 3 percentage points to 70 percent, according to local pollster Gallup Korea.

Support for the ruling conservative People Power Party added 1 percentage point to 30 percent this week compared to the previous week.

The main liberal opposition Democratic Party's popularity rating slipped 2 percentage points to 29 percent.

The minor left-leaning Rebuilding Korea Party posted 13 percent of support score this week, while the minor center-right New Reform Party logged 2 percent of approval score.

The results were based on a survey of 1,001 voters conducted from Tuesday to Thursday. It had plus and minus 3.1 percentage points in margin of error with a 95-percent confidence level.
