KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Malaysian businesses are expecting favorable business conditions in the second quarter, with the confidence indicator maintaining a positive trajectory of +0.7 percent, an official survey showed Thursday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a statement that the industry sector continues to be optimistic about business performance, with a confidence indicator of +5.3 percent for the corresponding quarter.
The improved outlook in the industry sector is influenced by three subsectors -- mining, manufacturing, and electricity and water, which predict encouraging business conditions in the reference quarter.
However, the construction, wholesale and retail trade, and services sectors foresee challenging business conditions in the second quarter. ■
