BEIJING, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Super League club Chengdu Rongcheng said on Wednesday that a transfer ban imposed by FIFA on them had been caused by a failure to submit relevant documents of a player transfer.
The Chengdu side, which was on the list FIFA published recently of clubs serving bans on registering new players, said in a statement that they introduced Brazilian player Oliveira de Araujo Andrigo during the 2023 summer transfer window, but failed to submit the documents proving the player's transfer fee had been paid.
Chengdu Rongcheng said they have now completed all the transfer procedures, including the submission of relevant documents of Andrigo's transfer, according to FIFA regulations, adding that they believe that the ban will soon be lifted.
"Our transactions of player transfers and registration during the 2024 summer window will not be affected by the ban," the Chengdu club said in the statement. ■
