YANGON, May 28 (Xinhua) -- At least 17 people were injured after an express bus carrying over 20 passengers hit a tree in southern Myanmar, an official from a local rescue organization told Xinhua on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Monday in Hinthada Township of Ayeyarwady Region.
The accident occurred when the bus skidded due to rain and collided with a tree on the side of the road, he said.
Two people were seriously injured, while others sustained minor injuries, he added. Accidents often occur in the township due to skidding during the rainy season. ■
