
BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.46 percent to 3,109.57 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.23 percent lower at 9,391.05 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices reached 741.73 billion yuan (about 104.32 billion U.S. dollars), down from the 774.81 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.
Shares in the power and semiconductor sectors led the gains, while those related to real estate services and e-commerce suffered significant losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.35 percent to close at 1,806.25 points on Tuesday. ■
