BEIJING, May 27 (Xinhua) -- At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi will pay a state visit to China on May 28-31, during which he will also attend the opening ceremony of the 10th ministerial meeting of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.
Sisi, 69, graduated from the Egyptian Military Academy. He has served as the commander of the Northern Military Zone, director of military intelligence, minister of Defense, and field marshal of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.
He was elected president of Egypt in May 2014 and began his second term in June 2018 and third term in April 2024.
He paid a state visit to China in December 2014, and attended events marking the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World's Anti-Fascist War in September 2015.
He visited China in September 2016 to attend the G20 Hangzhou summit and in September 2017 to attend the Dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries.
In September 2018, he paid a state visit to China and attended the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
In April 2019, he visited China to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
In February 2022, he visited China to attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. ■
