KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's producer price index (PPI), which measures the price changes of goods at the producer level, further edged up by 1.9 percent in April from a 1.6 percent increase recorded in the previous month, official data showed Tuesday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that similar to the previous month, all sectors registered an increase in April.
According to the DOSM, the mining sector continued to surge by 10 percent, while the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector also increased by 5.4 percent.
Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector recorded a marginal increase of 0.8 percent, the electricity and gas supply index went up by 1 percent, and the water supply index grew 7.2 percent.
On a monthly basis, PPI for local production went up by 0.5 percent as compared to 1.6 percent in March. ■
