ISLAMABAD, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said on Monday that the government established seven desks under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to attract foreign investment.

Talking to the media here, the minister said that desks will be dedicated to each of the seven specific countries, including China as well as Arab and Western countries, to attract foreign direct investment to Pakistan.

He added that Chinese investment is being sought under the project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and the government has high hopes for its new phase.

Tarar said that an Arab country also assured Pakistan of investment, which is vital to uplift the country's economy.

Formed in July 2023, SIFC aims to attract foreign investments as a single-window platform to facilitate businesses of potential investors.
