NEW DELHI, May 26 (Xinhua) -- At least seven newborns died and five others were injured when a fire broke out inside a baby care center in east Delhi's Vivek Vihar area late on Saturday night, confirmed a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official to Xinhua on Sunday.

One of the injured was said to be in a serious condition. The injured newborns were shifted to a different hospital.

The fire reportedly started after an oxygen cylinder blew off. And soon dense smoke engulfed the whole building, leading to a commotion inside it, said an eyewitness.

Videos showed newborns being rescued and brought down by DFS officials with the help of a ladder.

In another fire incident reported from a multi-storey house in east Delhi's Krishna Nagar area, three persons died and three others were injured.

The fire, which started from the parking area on the ground floor, damaged over 10 two-wheelers before spreading to the first floor of the building, said a DFS official.
