JINGXIAN, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Dingjiaqiao Township in Jingxian County, east China's Anhui Province is known as the birthplace of Xuan paper. The traditional craft of making Xuan paper was listed as one of China's national-level intangible cultural heritages in 2006 and a world intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2009. The paper-making handicraft in China's Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) is still in use in today's Dingjiaqiao Township.

While promoting the traditional craft of making Xuan paper, in recent years, the local government has also propelled the industry of machine-made calligraphy and painting paper to meet customer demand. Cultural and creative products made of Xuan paper, e-commerce live-streaming, study tour themed on intangible cultural heritage, handicraft experience, and many other emerging business forms have attracted more and more people returning home to start businesses.
