BAGHDAD, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Six family members were killed on Wednesday in a roadside bomb in Salahudin province north of Baghdad, a provincial police source said.
The incident occurred in the evening, when a roadside bomb detonated near a car carrying family members while traveling on the desert road between the towns of Baiji in Salahudin province and Haditha in the neighboring Anbar province, Mohammed al-Bazi from the police command of Salahudin province told Xinhua.
Iraqi security forces rushed to the scene and launched an investigation into the incident, while ambulances evacuated the victims to the hospital, al-Bazi added.
Salahudin province reportedly was the scene of another bomb attack on Wednesday when a roadside bomb hit an army vehicle in a village near the town of Tuz Khurmatu in the eastern part of the province, leaving two soldiers killed and four others injured, according to the latest police report. ■
