ISTANBUL, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Thirteen suspects were detained by Turkish police on Thursday over their alleged links to the Islamic State (IS), local media reported.
Security forces launched simultaneous operations across Istanbul as part of the investigation led by the Terror and Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, according to the state-run Anadolu news agency.
Prosecutors accused the 13 suspects of their active involvement in the IS group, said the report.
Türkiye, which designated the IS as a terror organization in 2013, has been under multiple attacks from the extremist group. Turkish authorities have been frequently conducting counter-terrorism operations against its members across the country. ■
