TUNIS, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian authorities detained three people in a joint counter-terrorism operation in the Tunisian capital Tunis, the Tunisian National Guard said on Tuesday in a statement.
The statement, posted on the National Guard's Facebook page, said the three people were wanted by various security and judicial agencies for being involved in a terrorist organization.
The three individuals have been taken into custody, added the statement without giving further details.
Tunisia has witnessed increased terrorist activities since 2011, in which dozens of security and military personnel, as well as civilians and foreign tourists, were killed. ■
