YANGON, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture celebrated International Museum Day at the National Museum of Myanmar (Yangon) on Saturday, the state-run media Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) reported on Sunday.
International Museum Day, which falls on May 18 each year, is celebrated worldwide and recognized by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) to honor museums globally, the report said.
This year, the theme of the International Museum Day is "Museums for Education and Research" and the event included a paper reading session, the report added.
Myanmar became a member of the International Council of Museums in 2016.
In Myanmar, there are 29 national museums under the Department of Archaeology and National Museum. ■
