BEIJING, May 18 (Xinhua) -- China's domestic crime thriller "Hovering Blade" topped the Chinese mainland daily box office chart on Friday, the first day of its screening, data from the China Movie Data Information Network showed.
The film, adapted from the work of acclaimed Japanese novelist Higashino Keigo, focuses on the social issue of juvenile delinquency. The film pocketed about 10.88 million yuan (1.53 million U.S. dollars) on Friday.
It was followed by the domestic comedy "The Last Frenzy" with 9.67 million yuan of daily box office sales.
Hong Kong action crime thriller "Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In" came in third with a daily earning of 9.16 million yuan.
The Chinese mainland's box office revenue totaled 54.45 million yuan on Friday. ■
