Vietnam's party central committee concludes ninth session

HANOI, May 18 (Xinhua) -- The 13th Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee concluded its ninth session here on Saturday morning.

The committee has reviewed, provided feedback on, decided on a number of important issues and approved the session's resolution, Vietnam News Agency reported.

General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong said the Party Central Committee discussed, carefully considered and reached a high consensus on a plan to introduce candidates for the president of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the chairman of the 15th National Assembly (NA), who will be voted at the NA general meeting scheduled to open on May 20.

The committee also elected four additional members to the 13th Politburo and agreed to let Truong Thi Mai resign from the posts of Politburo member and member of the 13th Party Central Committee for her wrongdoings and violations of regulations on what Party members must not do.

The Party Central Committee also decided to impose disciplinary measures on several high-ranking members, said Trong.
