HANOI, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's capital Hanoi and southern Ho Chi Minh City are among the most expensive cities in Asia to rent housing, VnExpress reported Friday, citing European market researcher Global Property Guide.
The monthly rate for a one-bedroom apartment in the most expensive areas in the two cities is 688 U.S. dollars on average.
Buying a one-bedroom apartment in the most expensive areas of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City costs 214,500 dollars, which is double the price in Jakarta (112,500 dollars), and also higher than in Mumbai and Manila, said the report.
The newspaper cited Nguyen Hoai An, an analyst at property consultancy Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis, as saying that the Ho Chi Minh City apartment market was now in a stable period after recording strong price surges in recent years. ■
