HANOI, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's southern economic hub Ho Chi Minh City led the country in export revenue in 2023 with 42.46 billion U.S. dollars, according to Vietnam's import-export report published by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Thursday.
Despite the leading position, the city's export revenue in 2023 declined 10.8 percent year on year, Vietnam News Agency reported.
The northern province of Bac Ninh was ranked second with over 39.3 billion dollars in revenue in 2023.
According to the report, localities have strived to boost industrial production, trade and import-export activities in 2024.
Ho Chi Minh City set industrial production growth at 6.5 percent this year.
Export turnover of businesses through the city's border gates is set to rise 10 percent.
Vietnam's exports in 2023 reached nearly 354.7 billion dollars, down 4.6 percent year on year, said the report. ■
