RIO DE JANEIRO, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Yuri Alberto scored twice as Corinthians clinched a berth in the Copa Sudamericana knockout stage with a 4-0 home win over Argentinos Juniors on Tuesday.
Alberto netted either side of Wesley Gassova's 41st-minute strike before Fausto Vera completed the rout in second-half stoppage time.
The Brazilian side now has 10 points from five games, a point behind Group F leaders Racing Montevideo. Argentinos Juniors are third in the group with six points.
"It's great to have the support of the fans and my teammates, who have helped me a lot," Bojra said in reference to a lean scoring spell early in the year.
"It's nice that they recognize my dedication, even if the criticism was warranted," the 31-year old added.
In other Copa Sudamericana games on Tuesday, Racing Montevideo won 2-1 at Nacional Asuncion, Independiente Medellin drew 1-1 at Defensa y Justicia, Sportivo Ameliano prevailed 1-0 at home to Rayo Zuliano and Nacional Potosi edged to a 2-1 home victory over Trinidense. ■
