COLOMBO, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Over 10,000 Sri Lankan and international spectators viewed 188 base jumps carried out at the Colombo Lotus Tower between May 12 and 14, said the Lotus Tower Management Company on Wednesday.
The company said on local TV that 35 international base jumpers were involved in the event.
It was Sri Lanka's highest international base jump event, where people leapt from a height of 350 meters, according to the company.
The Colombo Lotus Tower organized this adventure sports event in a bid to promote the venue and Sri Lanka's growing prominence in extreme sports tourism.
Sri Lanka and China signed an agreement in 2012 to build the Colombo Lotus Tower, Sri Lanka's tallest skyscraper, with a Chinese company being the general contractor. ■
