BEIJING, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Shenhua striker Joao Teixeira, still nursing a leg injury, will miss Wednesday's Chinese Super League (CSL) game against Qingdao Hainiu, according the Shanghai side's head coach Leonid Slutsky.
The Portuguese player is recovering but not yet match fit, Slutsky said at the pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
"About when he will come back, it's very difficult to tell. He's improving, but not ready for the game," he said.
Teixeira picked up the injury in the second half of Shanghai Shenhua's 4-0 victory over Zhejiang FC last Sunday after he collided with an opposition player.
Medical examinations conducted by the club's medical team confirmed that he suffered a minor ligament tear in his left leg.
Shanghai Shenhua leads the CSL table with 27 points from 11 games, while Qingdao Hainiu struggles in second from the bottom with eight points. ■
