ANKARA, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police have detained 56 suspected members of the Islamic State (IS) group in anti-terror operations across Türkiye, the country's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Tuesday.

The operations, dubbed "Bozdogan-38," were carried out in four provinces across the country, namely Sanliurfa, Hatay, Denizli and Konya, the minister said on social media platform X, without specifying the dates of the operations.

Yerlikaya said the suspects allegedly recruited people for the group, provided shooting training and organizational training, and provided logistical support.

They also allegedly entered the country illegally and provided financial aid to people who were active in the group and organizational meetings.

The Turkish government designated the IS as a terrorist organization in 2013 and blamed it for a spate of deadly attacks in the country since 2015.

In December last year, Turkish intelligence and security forces captured a top IS terrorist in charge of the group's finances in an operation in Türkiye's southeastern province of Mersin.
