HANOI, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's seafood exports hit 2.7 billion U.S. dollars in the first four months of 2024, surging by 6 percent year on year, Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday, citing the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.

In April alone, the country's seafood export revenue reached 770 million dollars, up 4 percent year on year.

Exports of tuna, tra fish, crab, and shellfish of all types in April all recorded positive growth over the same period last year, said the report.

Shrimp export revenue in April reached 285 million dollars, recording the highest value since the beginning of this year.

Seafood exports to Japan and South Korea witnessed slight increases, and exports to China decreased by over 22 percent.

Vietnam is aimed at exporting 9.5 billion to 10 billion dollars of seafood this year, said the association.
