BEIJING, May 13 (Xinhua) -- The inaugural meeting of the technical committee on cultural heritage protection of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was held on Monday at the Palace Museum in Beijing.
Proposed by China and officially approved in March 2024, the committee is the first technical committee established by the ISO in the field of global cultural heritage protection since its inception.
Through international standardization work on terminology, technology, materials and equipment in cultural heritage monitoring, assessment, protection and restoration processes, the committee seeks to share advanced and applicable technologies and best practices in cultural heritage protection, according to China's National Cultural Heritage Administration.
The secretariat of the committee has been set up at the Palace Museum. ■
