MEXICO CITY, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Lorenzo Faravelli scored in second-half stoppage time as Cruz Azul advanced to the Liga MX semifinals by completing a 4-2 aggregate victory over Pumas UNAM on Sunday.
Guillermo Martinez gave Pumas the lead on the night at Cruz Azul's Ciudad de los Deportes stadium in Mexico City with a low finish after Cesar Huerta's cross in the 51st minute.
Alexis Gutierrez equalized shortly after and the visitors suffered another blow when Nathanael Silva was sent off nine minutes from time.
Huerta struck against the run of play for Pumas before Faravelli bundled home a 91st-minute equalizer from point-blank range. The second-leg result gave the Mexico City outfit a 4-2 win on aggregate after their 2-0 victory in the first leg.
"It's a great feeling to reach the semifinals," Cruz Azul manager Martin Anselmi told reporters after the match.
"The players have overcome great challenges to get to where they are now. This is well deserved," Anselmi added. ■
