NEW DELHI, May 11 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed and 23 injured in storm-related incidents in the Indian capital territory of Delhi, officials said Saturday.

Strong winds on Friday night uprooted trees, hoardings and electricity poles, damaging buildings across Delhi.

"Last night in Delhi, two people were killed and six others injured due to uprooting of trees. Additionally, 17 people were reported injured after strong winds led to the collapsing of portions of buildings," an official said.

The winds triggering the massive dust storm disrupted power supply in many areas. Road traffic and flight operations were also affected, local media report said.

This week Delhi recorded the highest temperature of the season at 42 degrees Celsius. India Meteorological Department has forecast a wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over Central, East and South Peninsular parts of the country until Monday.
