BUENOS AIRES, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Argentinos Juniors twice recovered from a goal down to clinch a 3-2 home win over Rosario Central on the opening night of Argentina's Primera Division season on Friday.
Agustin Modica gave the visitors an early lead before Francisco Alvarez equalized 15 minutes later at the Diego Maradona stadium in Buenos Aires.
Leo Heredia gifted Rosario Central their second goal by inadvertently turning the ball into his own net under pressure.
But the hosts persisted and drew level again through Alan Lescano, who converted from the penalty spot on the stroke of halftime. Luciano Gondou completed the turnaround when he thumped a 25-yard drive into the top left corner after combining with Lescano.
The result leaves Argentinos Juniors second in the 28-team standings, trailing Newell's Old Boys on goal difference. Rosario Central are 26th.
In other Argentine top flight matches on Friday, Instituto won 2-1 at Sarmiento and Newell's eased to a 2-0 home win over Platense. ■
