KATHMANDU, May 10 (Xinhua) -- An assembly plant for Hyundai cars was inaugurated on Friday in Nepal's Lumbini Province, the first for a multinational brand.
Laxmi Motor Corporation, a unit of the Laxmi Group, the authorized dealer in Hyundai cars in Nepal for one and a half decades, set up the four-wheeler assembly facility.
Nepal's Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal attended the inauguration ceremony. He voiced his belief that the assembly plant would help attract more investments in the country.
Initially, Hyundai Venue SUVs will be assembled in the Lumbini plant, but other models of cars are planned as well.
According to the company, the assembly plant has the capacity to assemble over 5,000 cars in a year. ■
