NEW YORK, May 8 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.13 percent to 105.546 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.0745 U.S. dollars from 1.0751 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.2495 U.S. dollars from 1.2507 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 155.61 Japanese yen, higher than 154.73 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.9081 Swiss francs from 0.9092 Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.3731 Canadian dollars from 1.3734 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 10.9066 Swedish Kronor from 10.8699 Swedish Kronor.
