MADRID, May 8 (Xinhua) -- The president of La Liga club Getafe Angel Torres said that Manchester United have informed him they will not be taking forward Mason Greenwood back at the end of the season.

Greenwood moved to the Spanish club at the start of the season, after Manchester United decided against keeping the 22-year-old in their squad, despite charges of attempted rape and assault being dropped against him after prosecutors said there was "no longer a realistic prospect of conviction" in the case.

His move to Spain has been a sporting success, with 10 goals in 32 games for the club from the south of Madrid.

Greenwood's performances had caused some speculation that he could return to his parent club, or that Manchester United could receive an offer for him from elsewhere in Spain, with FC Barcelona mentioned as a possible destination.

Speaking on Radio Marca, Torres said Greenwood was happy in Getafe and "if it was up to him, his parents and the club, I think he would stay for another year."

However, Torres added that "the news that we have is that if a good offer arrives, they (United) would want to sell, because he (Greenwood) is not going back there."

"We'll have to wait until the end of June. Everyone is happy with him. I think he will remain with us for another season, or at least until January. He is a good footballer," concluded Torres.
