BEIJING, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese modernization will be unprecedented in history in terms of its scale, the number of people that benefit from it, and the formidable challenges along the way, said a think tank report released Saturday in Paris.
The report, titled "Chinese Modernization: The Way Forward," was co-authored by New China Research, the think tank of Xinhua News Agency, and the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and is available in four languages including Chinese, English, French and Russian.
China is working to achieve modernization for more than 1.4 billion people, a number larger than the combined population of all developed countries in the world today, said the report.
The CPC has turned China into a prosperous society in all respects, benefiting the largest population in the history of human development, it said, adding that Chinese modernization expands the avenue toward modernization for developing countries.
In the pursuit of Chinese modernization, the abundance of human resources and the vast market serve as invaluable assets, fueling powerful momentum for high quality development, the report said.
The report also said that China has initiated an urbanization process of the largest scale and fastest pace in world history since the launch of reform and opening up.
China acts on the principle that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets and maintains harmony between humanity and nature in the pursuit of Chinese modernization, said the report.
Chinese modernization aims to promote green and low-carbon ways of production and life by adjusting and improving the structure of the industrial, energy, and transportation sectors, pursuing high-quality development with the support of a healthy environment, it said.
The report also noted that Chinese modernization is the modernization of opening the door to the world, saying that China is committed to working with other countries to foster an international environment conducive to development and create new drivers for global growth. ■
