RIO DE JANEIRO, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Santos manager Fabio Carille has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Vasco da Gama, insisting that he intends to see out his two-year contract.
Carille, who joined Santos in December after it was relegated for the first time in its history, has made an impressive start to his tenure with the eight-time Serie A champions, taking it to the top of Serie B.
"I leave these extra-field issues to my manager," Carille said. "Our good work draws attention, of course, but I'm very happy here and very content.
"I'm staying, regardless of any other situation. I'm not just talking about Vasco, any other possibility is ruled out. I want to be with Santos in Serie A in 2025", the 50-year-old added
Vasco has been searching for a new first-team manager since parting ways with Ramon Diaz earlier this week.
The Rio de Janeiro giant is currently 17th in the 20-team Serie A standings with just three points from its opening four games of the season. ■
