BOGOTA, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Colombia is setting its sights on winning this year's Copa America in the United States, despite having been drawn in the so-called "group of death", the head of the country's football federation said on Thursday.

Colombia will begin its campaign against Paraguay on June 24 before meeting Costa Rica four days later and Brazil on July 2 to complete the group stage.

"The goal is always to compete. No one can guarantee anything, but you have to aspire for the best and the best is to win the title," federation president Ramon Jesurun told reporters.

Colombia is unbeaten since Argentine Nestor Lorenzo replaced Reinaldo Rueda as manager in June 2022. In that time, the Cafeteros have played 18 matches, of which they have won 13 and drawn five.

"Nestor has been working with enthusiasm. We know that we have a very good team with a lot of talent and players who are in good form," Jesurun said.

Colombia will prepare for the tournament with two friendlies: the first against the United States in Washington on June 8 and the second against Bolivia in Connecticut seven days later.

The Cafeteros' only Copa America title came when they hosted the tournament in 2001.
