BUENOS AIRES, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Boca Juniors captain Marcos Rojo has challenged his teammates to come back stronger after the club's elimination from the first stage of Argentina's Primera Division.
Boca bowed out of the competition with a 3-2 penalty shootout defeat to Estudiantes in their single-leg semifinal on Tuesday but Rojo urged the squad to regroup quickly with a view to the second stage of the Primera Division starting this month.
"We are on the right path," the 34-year-old said in a social media post on Wednesday. "We are going to battle on with humility and hard work, and we are setting our sights even higher."
Rojo has made 82 first-team appearances for Boca since joining the club from Manchester United in 2021.
Boca will begin the second stage of Argentina's Primera Division with a visit to Atletico Tucuman on May 12. ■
