TASHKENT, May 1 (Xinhua) -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has invested over 4.4 billion euros (4.7 billion U.S. dollars) across Uzbekistan, and the share of the private sector has approached 70 percent, the presidential press service said on Wednesday.

"A new strategy of partnership has been adopted between Uzbekistan and the EBRD in order to expand the areas and scope of cooperation, primarily in such areas as small and medium-sized businesses, women's entrepreneurship, alternative energy, digital technologies and others," read a statement made by the press service, after President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation headed by EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso.

Mirziyoyev also noted the importance of promptly preparing and implementing new projects in the fields of water supply, energy, road infrastructure, and the development of green cities.
