DHAKA, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud has called on the international community not to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) in weapon system.
He rather urged for using AI in the areas of agriculture, medical science, space exploration, climate change and job creation.
Hasan made the calls while speaking at an international conference titled "Humanity at the Crossroads: Autonomous Weapons Systems and the Challenge of Regulation" in Vienna on April 29, a foreign ministry press release said here.
The foreign minister also suggested to set global norms to effectively regulate the autonomous weapons systems.
The foreign minister also called on all to get away with any new arms including autonomous weapons for the sake of humanity.
Highlighting the precarious situation in Gaza, Hasan also cautioned the international community against opening a new front of conflicts and tensions. ■
