WINDHOEK, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Namibia launched the "Fatty Oils Export Guide" for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) on Tuesday to enhance the country's cosmetics exports to Europe.

Speaking at the launch, Julia Muetudhana, the executive director of the Namibia Industrial Property Development Board, said that through the export guide, they aim to empower MSMEs within the cosmetics sector with key insights to penetrate the European market.

"Ultimately, we would like to see locals selling their products in major markets across Europe and creating sustainable employment opportunities for Namibians," she said.

Muetudhana highlighted the guide's comprehensive nature, covering essential aspects such as market research, regulatory compliance, packaging and logistics management, tailored to meet European market requirements.

"Namibian fatty oils have carved out a significant market niche in Europe, owing to their exceptional quality and diverse applications. Renowned for their purity and unique composition, fatty oils such as marula and manketti (nut tree) have gained popularity in the European cosmetic and skincare industry," she said.

According to Muetudhana, Namibian brands have gained recognition in the European cosmetics sector, attributed to their commitment to delivering quality products and sustainability practices, transcending geographical boundaries.

She said the guide's inception traces back to July 2023, with the support of partners, aiming to provide MSMEs with tools to navigate and thrive in the European cosmetics industry.

The global cosmetics market size was valued at over 374 billion U.S. dollars in 2023 and is projected to grow substantially, reaching 758 billion U.S. dollars by 2032, driven by increasing consumer consciousness regarding personal appearance and well-being.
