PHNOM PENH, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Sixteen villagers in northeast Cambodia's Kratie province have suffered food poisoning after eating contaminated food, a provincial health official said on Friday.

The incident happened on Thursday in Sambour district's Tonsong Thlak village after they consumed the local rice noodle Num Banhchok, said Ngy Bunlen, director of the Kratie provincial health department.

"They had the same symptoms such as stomachache, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, and dizziness," he said in a press release.

He added that the ill-fated villagers, including 10 women, had been sent to a district hospital for medical treatment and were recovering from their illnesses.

"It is initially concluded that they became ill after they ate unhygienically made, stored, or packaged Num Banhchok that was sold in the village," Bunlen said.
