BEIJING, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Language is dynamic. In our interconnected world, linguistic exchanges happen frequently. It's common for a language to adopt foreign vocabulary as loanwords with minor or no changes when there aren't direct equivalents of its own. As the world is about to observe United Nations (UN) Chinese Language Day on April 20, it provides us an opportunity to explore the rich array of loanwords in Chinese, which is spoken by more than a billion people and an official language of the UN.
