LOS ANGELES, April 17 (Xinhua) -- NASA and Boeing are targeting May to launch a crewed flight test mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
The mission will be the first crewed launch of Boeing's Starliner spacecraft as part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program.
NASA teams joined Boeing to move the Starliner spacecraft out of Kennedy Space Center in Florida to the launch site on Monday.
Liftoff is scheduled for no earlier than May 6, from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams are the first to launch aboard Starliner spacecraft to the ISS.
The astronauts will spend about a week at the orbiting laboratory before the crew capsule makes a parachute and airbag-assisted landing in the southwestern United States, according to NASA.
After successful completion of the mission, NASA will begin the final process of certifying Starliner and its systems for crewed rotation missions to the space station. ■
