QALA-E-NAW, Afghanistan, April 16 (Xinhua) -- One commuter lost his life and 20 others sustained injury as a mini-bus turned turtle in west Afghanistan's Badghis province on Tuesday, provincial government spokesman Qari Hanzala Jawandi said.

The accident took place outside the provincial capital Qala-e-Naw City at around 10 a.m. local time, leaving one traveler dead on the spot and injuring 20 others, some in critical condition, the official added.

Blaming the reckless driving for the mishap, the official asserted that the carelessness of the drivers on congested roads often claimed the lives of commuters.

Earlier, the country's General Directorate of Traffic Police said that 102 road accidents claimed the lives of 50 persons and injured 185 others during four days of Eid al-Fitr holidays which commenced on April 10.

More than 1,600 people, according to the General Directorate of Traffic Police of the country, have been killed and more than 4,000 others injured due to road accidents in Afghanistan over the past 11 months.
