NEW DELHI, April 16 (Xinhua) -- A boat carrying several passengers, mostly children, capsized in Indian-controlled Kashmir on Tuesday, killing at least four people, India Today reported.
The boat capsized in Jhelum river near Srinagar, the region's main city.
Seven people were brought to the hospital, of which four were dead, and three others were undergoing treatment, said Muzaffar Zargar, the medical superintendent of the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar.
Rescuers were searching for those who were still missing.
Incessant rain over the last few days has led to an increase in the water levels of several water bodies in Indian-controlled Kashmir, including Jhelum. ■
