VILNIUS, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The Summit of the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) was held here on Thursday, in a bid to improve transport links, diversify energy sources, and build resilient infrastructure.

Chairing the plenary session of the ninth 3SI summit in Vilnius, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that the 3SI could contribute greatly to the practical aspects of the European Union (EU) enlargement process.

"Thanks to the Three Seas Initiative, we are putting greater emphasis on the region's cyber resilience, the protection of critical infrastructure, and military mobility, " he said.

The summit adopted a joint declaration.

The 3SI is a cooperation format launched in August 2016 by 12 EU member states: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
