BRATISLAVA, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Voters in Slovakia went to polls on Saturday to choose the country's next president in the second round of presidential election.
More than 4.3 million people are eligible to vote in the runoff, according to Slovakia's Statistical Office. They can cast their votes at over 5,900 polling stations opening from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time.
Nine candidates participated in the first round of the presidential election on March 23, and two candidates made it to the second round: Ivan Korcok, a former foreign minister, and Peter Pellegrini, the incumbent speaker of the National Council.
The official election results are expected to be announced on Sunday.
Slovakia's incumbent President Zuzana Caputova, whose 5-year term expires on June 15 this year, did not seek re-election. ■
