KAMPALA, April 5 (Xinhua) -- The head coach of Uganda's U16 Women's team has said he is looking forward to facing China, Wales and Paraguay during the UEFA Friendship Football tournament slated to take place April 9-19th in Riva, Istanbul in Turkey.
Uganda is one of the member associations that were invited for the inaugural tournament which will attract eight teams from different continents.
The invitational tournament for U16 Women's teams is an initiative by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the teams that will participate include Uganda, Botswana, Turkey, United States, Vietnam, China, Paraguay and Wales.
Charles Ayiekoh Lukula, the coach of the Ugandan team said he is happy that the young players will get this opportunity to gain experience by playing more international games.
"I am very excited that our young players will have a chance to compete against teams from other countries. For me facing China, Wales and Paraguay who we are placed in the same group comes as a blessing because it is good exposure for our players to learn new situations," added Lukula.
According to UEFA and the hosts, the matches will be played at the Turkish Football Federation training center in Riva, Istanbul. ■
