SYDNEY, April 5 (Xinhua) -- An emergency warning was issued on Friday in Australia's Sydney, as the unceasing deluge left one of its southwestern suburbs stranded in "dangerous and rising flooding."

According to the NSW State Emergency Service (SES), people in the low-lying areas of Chipping Norton are being directed to evacuate before midnight.

"Floodwaters may isolate the area. If you remain in the area, you may be trapped without power, water, and other essential services and it may be too dangerous to rescue you," said the NSW SES.

Currently, 66 warnings for flooding and severe weather are in place across the state.

The emergency agency also set up two evacuation centers in Sydney's southwest.

Earlier in the day, the NSW SES issued a statement advising people to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel, as significant rainfall impacted much of the state's east coast.
