KINSHASA, April 5 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were injured, with two in critical condition, when a small aircraft overshot the runway and ended up in a nearby ravine on Friday morning in the eastern province of Ituri in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), according to local media reports.

"An aircraft crashed while landing on Zale around 9 a.m. According to initial information, the pilot lost control of the plane while trying to save the life of a person who was crossing the runway. The aircraft was found in the ravine," the Congolese Press Agency reported, citing Robert Ndjalonga, the provincial coordinator of the civil protection service.

The aircraft, which had departed from Bunia city, was bound for Mahagi in the Ituri province.
