BAGHDAD, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani held a phone conversation with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Wednesday on the Israeli deadly strike on Iran's consulate in Syria.
A statement issued by his media office said that in the phone talk, al-Sudani extended sincere condolences of Iraq on the death of Iranians in the attack, stressing Iraq's condemnation of the "sinful aggression."
Al-Sudani warned that the continuation of the conflict in Gaza would bring the region into "dangerous security slides," it said.
Al-Sudani also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in protecting the Palestinian people, the statement added.
Israel on Monday launched a missile strike against the consular section of the Iranian embassy in the Syrian capital Damascus, killing seven Iranians, including two veteran commanders of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps. ■
