PRAGUE, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Czech police said on Wednesday that they have arrested 14 individuals suspected of trafficking drugs from Slovakia.

In a statement, the police said the suspects, arrested after a seven-month investigation, were 11 Czech nationals and three foreigners. Czech police, in collaboration with their Slovak counterparts, also seized nearly 100 km of hashish, cocaine, methamphetamine and other illicit drugs.

The primary suspect is identified as a foreign national who imported drugs from Slovakia. According to police, the suspect supplied cocaine and meth to the drug market in the eastern Czech regions of Hradec Kralove and Pardubice as well as in Prague.

In addition, the suspect is alleged to have supplied preparations containing pseudoephedrine to drug producing facilities in the Central Bohemia region.

Police accused the members of this organized group of distributing medications containing pseudoephedrine, as well as the trafficking of methamphetamine and cocaine.

The severity of the crime will determine the sentences faced by the accused, with potential penalties of up to 18 years in prison, the police said.

The recent operation follows the October arrest of 11 foreigners by Czech police, who were accused of cultivating large quantities of cannabis in rented apartments in Prague.
