BEIRUT, April 2 (Xinhua) -- A Hezbollah member was killed and three civilians were injured on Tuesday in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua.

Military sources, who spoke anonymously, said one of the strikes destroyed three houses in the southeast village of Mays al-Jabal, killing a Hezbollah member and wounding two civilians, including a paramedic who works with the Muslim Scout Association.

According to the sources, a raid destroyed a house in the southwest village of Yarine, injuring one Lebanese woman.

The sources noted that Israel carried out four airstrikes on three border towns and villages in the eastern and western sectors and fired artillery at ten towns and villages in the border region of southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah said its fighters attacked Israeli sites in the occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms, the Malikiyah site, and the Gesher HaZiv colony.

The Lebanon-Israel border has been witnessing increased tension since Oct. 8, 2023, after Lebanese armed group Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets toward Israel in support of the Hamas attack on Israel the previous day, prompting Israel to respond by firing heavy artillery toward southeastern Lebanon.

The confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel have killed 397 people on the Lebanese side, including 256 Hezbollah members and 73 civilians, according to Lebanese security sources.
